Posts are typically 80×80mm square hollow sections (SHS) with 3mm wall thickness for residential facilities, 100×100mm SHS at 4mm for commercial and tournament facilities. The horizontal rails at the top of each panel carry wind loads and double as cable runs for LED lighting.

Do I need hot-dip galvanization or is powder coating enough?
Powder coating alone provides zero corrosion protection if the steel is scratched. Hot-dip galvanization is the corrosion barrier; powder coating is the color and UV protection on top. For outdoor courts always specify both, in that order.
What steel grade should I require?
S235JR is fine for residential and club-level courts. For tournament facilities or installations above 800m altitude, specify S355JR for the additional yield strength margin against wind and snow loads.
Can the structure support a tensile fabric roof?
Yes, but you must involve the steel structure designer at the foundation stage — fabric roofs generate large uplift forces that change the foundation from compression-only to tension-compression, which means more rebar and deeper footings.
